Assembly – Visit from the Mayor and 100% Attendance Prizes

Friday 16th December 2011 – Today we had a visit from the town Mayor, Mr Ken Avey, who presented certificates to the winners of his Christmas card competition. The overall winner was Maddie in Sycamore Class and runners up were Holly in Beech Class and Jessica in Walnut Class.

Maddie’s winning design has been printed on the Mayor’s official christmas card for 2011. Congratulations Maddie!

Also in assembly, Mrs Drew announced the names of 67 pupils who had achieved 100% attendance for this term. Those pupil’s names were put in a hat and Paul in Birch won the prize for Key Stage 1 and Molly in Chestnut won the prize for Key Stage 1. Very well done to all.

Tag Rugby Finals at Davenant School

The tag rugby team had to get up early on Tuesday 29th November, ready to leave school before most children had arrived.

They headed to Davenant Foundation School for the Tag Rugby Finals. The event would see them pitted against the best local school teams, in the hope of qualifying for the district finals.

It was not an easy ride. The team worked incredibly hard, improving with every game, but failed to secure the all important wins necessary for promotion to the next round.

Well done to every player on the team, they all displayed great team spirit and sportsmanship in some tough matches.

Open Mornings 2011

This year at Ivy Chimneys we are holding open mornings for prospective parents to visit the school. The last of these will take place on Thursday 5th January 2012.

Tours of the school will begin at 9.30am prompt and are designed for adults so please make arrangements for younger children to be cared for at that time.

Please contact the school to make an appointment preferably by email on admin@ivychimneys.essex.sch.uk stating your name, address and telephone number along with your child’s name and date of birth.

We will then acknowledge your email and put your name on our list for the visit.

Christmas Fair 2011

On Saturday the 26th November, hundreds flocked to our Christmas Fair to test their skills on the sideshow games, sample the delicious treats on offer, shop for pressies for loved ones and even meet Father Christmas himself.

Everyone had a fantastic time and helped to raise funds to benefit all the children of the school. The afternoon ended with the grand draw for the hotly anticipated raffle. Pulses raced as sweaty hands gripped tightly to their tickets, hoping that theirs would be the lucky one. Well done to all the winners and thank you to everyone who visited and supported this years fair.

Obviously these great events, and others, could not happen without the help, support and organisation of the Friends Of Ivy Chimneys, who along with members of school staff, work tirelessly to amuse us all and raise funds. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this such a great day. If you think you’d like to help at future events please don’t hesitate to offer, splitting the workload is always appreciated! See you at the next event!

PS. If you had to leave before the end you may receive a phone call if yours was one of the lucky tickets to be drawn, the doll’s name was Rolf and the Christmas cake weighed 4lb 7.5 oz!
